I use 1&1 to store all my domains. Cheap and easy to use. The only reason I have not used their hosting is that their servers are based in Germany and as such, perhaps naively, I believe that this will affect my search results.

These guys are very cheap and that can be attractive but I really wouldn’t bother. Their customer service is non-existant, that’s if you can find a tel number on their site. As for domains, don’t get me started…let’s just say that cancelling your renewal is an absolute nightmare!

Like many people starting-out on the internet I thought that 1&1 would be a good bet because they seemed to advertise everywhere and were quite a bit cheaper than anyone else.
After enduring this company for almost a year I have to say that they are terrible.
Performance wise connection always seemed to be very slow with quite frequent down-time.
Customer service can only be described as poor. Of the many times that I contacted them the average response time could be measured in days and even weeks on one occasion.
I would advise anyone to avoid this company at all costs!
