For buying and registering domains I think they are quite good and fair value for money. I have around 30 domains registered with 123 and I have never had a problem.
Their help section can be a bit unwieldy but I recall one query in particular being answered very comprehensively and fairly quickly.
I always change the nameservers to point to my own hosting so can not comment on any other aspect of their service, but for registering and managing domains it’s a thumbs up from me!

Although i don’t have hosting with 123reg i have found them to be great for registering domains, cheap and easy to find what you want
